ASHLEIGH HIGNETT

Miss Ash Bio

Miss Ash's love of dance started early on in her childhood where she was involved in Gymnastics, Calisthenics, Ballet and Modern Dance. Her love of dance and performance was explored and nurtured throughout school performances and her time as a GSODA (Geelong Society of Performing Arts) Junior where she was frequently featured as a lead dancer.

As a teacher, Miss Ash has experience teaching students from 2 years olds, adults and all that’s in between. She has taught dance throughout Geelong for 8 years and in this time became sought after by children and parents alike. She loved her role as a dance teacher before taking on a full time role in a primary school classroom and becoming a Mum to daughters Stevie and Luca.

Miss Ash prides herself on providing a safe environment that allows her students to build on their confidence, imagination, fitness and expression. Her teaching philosophy is based on the belief that students will learn when they are enjoying what they are doing. With this in mind she consciously makes an effort to quickly and effectively get to know all her students’ backgrounds, perspectives and interests in order to provide classes that optimise their engagement and ensure they walk out with a smile on their face.

Miss Ash recalls fondly the sheer joy she felt when moving and performing and is so passionate about sharing this with her students.
